01/10/2008 National Minimum Wage Changes

The National Minimum Wage (NMW) rates have increased from 1st October 2008.

There are 3 levels of NMW as follows:

1. Adult rate for workers aged 22 years and older - £5.73 per hour (up from £5.52)

2. A youth rate for workers aged 18-21 - £4.77 per hour (up from £4.60)

3. A lower rate for all workers under the age of 18, who are no longer of compulsory school age (i.e. 16-17 year olds) - £3.53 per hour (up from £3.40).
