International Women’s Day 2024

It all started 166 years ago to this day on 8 March 1857 in New York City, United States. Women working in clothing and textile factories marched in protest of unfair working conditions and unequal rights.  It was one of the first organised strikes by working women in history!

The campaign theme for International Women's Day 2024 is Inspire Inclusion. When we inspire others to understand and value women's inclusion, we forge a better world. And when women themselves are inspired to be included, there's a sense of belonging, relevance, and empowerment. Collectively, let's forge a more inclusive world for women.

Reflecting on My First Week

Starting a new job, as well as in a new industry filled me with many unknowns but also with much excitement.

My first day in the office was received with such warmth. Meeting the team and immersing myself in the company culture all felt so exhilarating.

As the week progressed, I delved deeper into my role, eagerly absorbing information like a sponge. From meeting new team members, one-on-one meetings and a networking event, each interaction provided invaluable insights into how Charlton Bakers mission, values, and expectations are brought to life each and every day . The Charlton Baker culture is not just words and the team demonstrate their natural alignment to this wonderful way of working so effortlessly.

No journey is without its challenges, but that’s all part of the learning process so despite the occasional feeling of being in uncharted territory, I embraced the opportunity to explore. From grappling with unfamiliar technology to adapting to different work processes I found myself growing more determined to understand and learn more.

As the first week came to a close I marvelled at how far I had come and how many milestones I had achieved in such a short time which was supported by the great people around me who gave up their valuable time to make sure I had all that I needed. My journey has been one of self-discovery and growth filling me with a sense of accomplishment and pride to be part of this wonderful Team and Business.

I am filled with a sense of excitement and gratitude for the adventures that lie ahead with Charlton Baker. The journey has only just begun, and I can't wait to see where it takes me.
